Best PH shuttlers to see action in Philippine National Badminton Open 2025

Over 500 players are expected to wage war in the Philippine National Badminton Open (PNBO) this July.

Sanctioned by the Philippine Badminton Association (PBAD), the Super1000 event will feature the best across the nation in this week-long event at the Rizal Memorial Complex in Manila.

“This is the biggest event for the Philippine Badminton Association because this annual event attracts the best shuttlers from all across the country,” said PBAD secretary general Carla Lizardo-Sulit in an interview with One News’ Play by Play.

With a whopping ?1?million prize pool, the event from July 7 to 12 will see the best of the best among the Filipino shuttlers as they battle for supremacy in the court, all while fighting for a spot in the national team.

“It’s the biggest source of points in our local ranking system so if you want to earn a shot in the national team, this is it,” Lizardo-Sulit added.

In last year's edition, Jewel Albo was crowned as the men's singles champion and Mika De Guzman as the women's singles champion. The duo of Lea Inlayo and Nicole Albo and the tandem of Ariel Magnaye and Christian Bernardo ruled the women's and men's doubles, respectively. It was also a double celebration for Bernardo after topping the mixed doubles division with Alyssa Leonardo.

PBAD is mapping its way toward its ultimate goal of sending Filipino shuttlers to the Olympics.

“At the end of the day, our goal is to have a badminton Olympian by Los Angeles 2028," said Lizardo-Sulit.

PNBO 2025 Matches will be aired through Cignal TV’s One Sports and One Sports+ channels and will be livestreamed via the Pilipinas LIVE app.

Venue tickets can also be purchased via www.ticketmax.ph for as low as Php50.
