Kaya FC-Iloilo emerged with another late game winner as Lyka Cuenco propelled her team to the title, beating Makati FC, 2-1, in the final match of the PFF Women’s League at the MOA Football Pitch on Saturday.

Kaya, who forced a draw with a similar last-gasp goal against Stallion Laguna last June 14 to keep themselves at pace for the title, gained advantage early with a Shelah Cadag goal at the sixth-minute mark.

But Makati FC, eager to play spoiler to Kaya’s title hopes, netted the equalizer from Rhiauna de la Calzada at the 81st minute.

With the championship on the line, Cuenco’s late-game heroics proved that lightning does strike twice for Kaya as she netted the winning goal in added time.

The goal sealed back-to-back championships for the Kaya women as they tied Stallion Laguna in the league table with 23 points on identical 7-2-1 records.

But due to superior goal difference — Kaya’s plus-35 against Stallion’s plus-19, the Kaya women once again ruled the league for the second straight year.

Kaya skipper Hali Long, who also leads the Philippine women’s national team, was named tournament MVP.

Also among the winning Kaya team were Inna Palacios, Sara Castañeda, Dionesa Tolentin, Kiara Fontanilla, Camille Rodriguez, Shai Del Campo, and UAAP MVP Carmela Altiche.
