Vietnam advanced to its third consecutive AVC Women’s Nations Cup Final after overpowering Kazakhstan in four sets led by Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen and Tran Thi Thanh Thuy.
Vietnam is headed to its third straight AVC Women’s Nations Cup Final after dispatching Kazakhstan in four sets, 25-15, 19-25, 25-7, 25-16, on Friday, June 13, at the Dong Anh Gymnasium in Hanoi.
Star spiker Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen led the charge with 28 points off 25 attacks, two blocks, and a service ace, while team captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, better known as T4, chipped in 15 points to help the hosts overcome their first dropped set of the tournament.
Kazakhstan, still without veteran Sana Anarkulova, saw a bright spot in Perizat Nurbergenova, who scored 20 markers to momentarily slow down the Vietnamese side in the second frame.
The dominant win continues Vietnam’s regional streak after past title victories over Indonesia and Kazakhstan in the previous two editions.
Vietnam now awaits the winner between Alas Pilipinas and Chinese Taipei in the other semifinal matchup.
