National team mainstay Islay Bomogao continues to make waves in the pros as she racked up another win in Singapore promotion ONE Championship, beating Spain’s Nerea Rubio in a first round TKO at ONE Friday Fights 111 at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok.

After an earthquake in Thailand postponed their bout back in March, Bomogao made sure to make the most of their return to the ONE stage where she is aiming for a contract in the main roster of the Singapore promotion.

Bomogao needed only a minute and change before folding Rubio at the 1:05 mark of the first round with a viscous body shot to earn her first stoppage win in ONE Championship.

Her two previous wins were by way of judging, with both coming as unanimous decision victories.

The quick and convincing victory earned Bomogao not only a bigger chance at a ONE contract, but she also gained a performance bonus of THB 350,000 (around Php 597,000) for her impressive showing.

Bomogao now has three wins below her belt as she chases a main roster spot.

Of note, the Filipina’s latest fight is a catchweight bout at 103 lbs. ONE’s atomweight division is fought between 105 to 115 pounds.

Bomogao is looking to move up higher to hopefully get a chance to compete in ONE Championship’s main roster of Muay Thai fighters in the atomweight division.
