Despite taking the loss at Marwin at ONE Friday Fights 109, Marwin "The Green Goblin" Quirante is not lacking in confidence.
Marwin "The Green Goblin" Quirante shared his thoughts after losing to Torepchi Dongak in the first round of their strawweight MMA bout at ONE Friday Fights 109 on May 23 at Lumpinee Stadium -- his first loss in ONE Championship.
Quirante was pushed into a tough place mentally, admitting to feeling defeated after being stopped.
But the 22-year-old revealed it was just “heat of the moment” demons that went through his head, something he quickly exorcised with rest and reassessment.
Now he's using this loss as a catapult to his dreams.
"I'm feeling defeated and a lot of questions are swirling around in my head. Should I quit or keep pushing forward?" he said.
"It feels like even my spirit is hiding in the shadows. But my heart, especially when it comes to MMA, remains strong despite everything. This is only the beginning and I'm steadily making progress."
Quirante received plenty of hype after two quick wins in the ONE Friday Fights circuit that highlighted his versatility and well-roundedness.
Against Phan Thanh Tung, Quirante made the Vietnamese fighter quit on his stool with a bevy of strikes on the feet. Versus Musa Musazade, "Green Goblin" showcased an excellent takedown defense and submission game.
This loss aside, Quirante believes he's still the same fighter that impressed Filipinos with his past performances. His confidence remains so strong that he proclaims he'll become the number one World Champion in the Philippines.
"I will come back stronger,” he said. “I refuse to lose hope; I'm determined to be the best – the number one Filipino world champion."
