Filipina tennister Alex Eala improves her career-high in the WTA rankings before her debut in the main draw of Roland Garros.
Alex Eala moved up one spot in the WTA rankings released on Monday, now ranked world no. 69 after her stint at the Italian Open in Rome to mark a new best in her young tennis career.
Eala, who celebrates her 20th birthday later this week, improved after spending a couple of weeks at no. 70.
This development comes even after a quick exit in singles at the Italian Open, falling flat in her Round of 128 match against Marta Kostyuk. However, she made waves in doubles with first-time partner Coco Gauff.

Gauff and Eala reached the quarterfinals of the Italian Open before falling in a narrow three-set loss to eventual champions Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini.
Because of their success, Eala also surged through the rankings in doubles, moving a whopping 232 places ahead to now world no. 224 with her 358 points.
She previously set a career-high ranking of no. 192 in doubles midway last year.
With the best stretch of her career, Eala optimistically looks ahead to her impending debut in the main draw of a Grand Slam, set to see action at the French Open. Her spot was in women's singles was confirmed following her semifinals run in the Miami Open.

Previously, Eala's closest shot at a Grand Slam was in last year's US Open, where she fell one win short in the qualifiers.
