“AGAIN???: This was the caption Carl Tamayo used when he posted a picture of him cuddling the KBL championship after helping the Changwon LG Sakers win Game 7 of the KBL Finals on Saturday, May 17.

Tamayo pulled off what no other Filipino import has done so far, winning a KBL championship on top of his Japan B.LEAGUE ring with the Ryukyu Golden Kings two years ago.

In a Game 7 that had the the trappings of a classic, Tamayo churned out 12 points and 10 rebounds, helping push the LG Sakers to a rugged win and void being the first KBL team to lose a 3-0 Finals lead.

Despite losing three straight games entering the deciding contest, Tamayo and LG Sakers’ resolve prevailed when it mattered most as Changwon hoisted its first-ever KBL crown.

Tamayo’s latest milestone was no easy feat though, that’s why sports personalities from all over extended their messages of congratulations to the former UAAP champion with the University of the Philippines.

Gilas stars Chris Newsome and June Mar Fajardo couldn’t help but be proud of their little brother.

“Congrats Rockstar!!!” said Newsome in a comment accompanied by a trophy and rockstar emoji.

“Grats dong!!” Fajardom chimed.

A fellow KBL champion and a former KBL Rookie of the Year also gave him a shoutout on the comment section.

“Congrats champ,” said Rhenz Abando, who was instrumental in Anyang Red Boosters’ 2023 KBL conquest.

“Congrats pare!!” said RJ Abarrientos, the top rookie with the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus also in 2023.

Though he saw himself on the wrong end of history with the SK Knights, Juan Gomez de Liaño made sure to dap up his UP brother.

“Congrats champ!” JGDL wrote.

Speaking of UP, Harold Alarcon and Ricci Rivero were two proud fellow Fighting Maroons as well.

“Congrats gawww!!!” said  Alarcon.
