Carl Tamayo and the Changwon LG Sakers are riding a wave of momentum as they look to move one step closer to the 2024–25 KBL title against the Seoul SK Knights in Game 3 of their best-of-seven Finals series.

Fresh off another explosive performance, Tamayo has quickly established himself as a Finals force.

The 23-year-old Filipino forward delivered 27 points on 10-of-20 shooting, along with seven rebounds and a steal, to power the Sakers to a thrilling 76-71 victory in Game 2 on Wednesday, May 7.

That performance followed a 24-point double-double in Game 1, as the former UP Fighting Maroon continues to lead LG’s charge with composure and firepower.

Tamayo, who has seamlessly stepped up in his first KBL Finals appearance, will once again be the focal point when Changwon returns to action on Friday, May 9, aiming for a commanding 3-0 series lead.

With the Sakers' import Assem Marei continuing to anchor the paint—adding 12 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists in Game 2—and Yu Ki-sang chipping in clutch buckets, Changwon has found a steady rhythm around Tamayo’s versatile scoring.

On the other side, Juan Gomez de Liaño showed flashes of brilliance in his own Finals debut for Seoul, firing a KBL career-high 19 points off the bench, including a crucial three late in Game 2.

But with the top-seeded SK Knights now in a must-win situation, the pressure is on to stop Tamayo and shift the momentum.

With back-to-back big games under his belt and the series momentum firmly in LG’s favor, Tamayo will look to stay hot as the Sakers aim to push Seoul to the edge of elimination.

Game 3 is set for 6:00 p.m. (Manila time).
