The Seoul SK Knights and Changwon LG Sakers have officially qualified for the 2025-26 East Asia Super League season, representing the Korean Basketball League (KBL) by reaching the Finals.

This will be the Sakers’ first appearance in EASL, while the Knights return to the competition after previously competing in the inaugural 2023-24 home-and-away season and EASL Champions Week in 2023.

Changwon became the first team to secure a Finals berth, sweeping the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus in the best-of-five KBL Semifinals. The Sakers entered the playoffs as the No. 2 seed with a 34-20 regular season record.

Gilas Pilipinas stalwart Carl Tamayo had 16 points while Assem Marei scored the game-winning basket with 3.5 seconds left, leading Changwon’s nail-biting 76-74 victory over Ulsan in Game 3.

Meanwhile, the top-seeded Knights continued their dominant campaign by defeating Suwon KT Sonicboom, which featured Rookie of the Year JD Cagulangan, in four games.

The Knights went 41-13 in the regular season and are led by a formidable duo — 2024-25 foreign MVP Jameel Warney and local MVP An Young Jun — as they chase their second KBL title in four years.

Former UP Fighting Maroons standout Juan Gomez de Liaño is also part of the SK lineup but has seen limited time on the court.

The KBL Finals between the Knights and Sakers will tip off on May 5.
