Matthew Aquino will stay in the B.League's first division, signing with the Gunma Crane Thunders.
Matthew Aquino has found a new home in Japan’s B.League.
Aquino has signed with the Gunma Crane Thunders for the 2024-25 season, the team announced Monday, June 17.
“I’m very excited for this opportunity. Thank you to Gunma Crane Thunders management and coaching staff for believing in me and giving me a chance to play for this organization,” Aquino said in the team release.
The son of PBA legend Marlou, Matthew has Japanese citizenship and has seen action for Akatsuki Japan during the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
In the B.League, Aquino spent his first three seasons with the Shinshu Brave Warriors. In the 2023-24 season, he appeared in 33 games and averaged 2.2 and 1.5 rebounds as a backup.
