Cignal made sure to give the debuting Bryan Bagunas a triumphant homecoming on Wednesday night.

The HD Spikers turned back the fiesty Philippine Air Force Airmen, carving out a hard-earned sweep, 25-10, 25-21, 25-15, in the 2024 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference at the Ynares Sports Arena.

Bagunas, who recently won back-to-back titles with Win Streak in the Top Volleyball League in Taiwan, came off the bench, entering in the second set and finishing with eight points.

It also marked a winning Spikers’ Turf return for the decorated stalwart, who last saw action in the tournament back in 2019.

JP Bugaoan took charge for Cignal with a game-high 16 points, while Jau Umandal scattered five attacks, three blocks and three aces.

With the straight-set win, Cignal has gained the solo lead in the standings with a pristine 4-0 record.

The HD Spikers played with an overwhelming pace right out of the gates, leaving the Airmen stunned for an early buffer.

Come the second set, Air Force found its groove as it trailed close behind Cignal, 12-14. Bagunas then entered the fray, delivering the differential hits that buoyed his side to a 2-0 set cushion.

Save for a brief moment at the onset of the decisive third, it was all the HD Spikers the rest of the way.

The Airmen fell to 1-3, as no one from their side scored in double figures.

Bryan James Jaleco paced the losing side with eight points, while Wesley Cajolo scored seven.

Cignal guns for 5-0 when it collided with Criss Cross on April 14, Sunday, at the PhilSports Arena.

Air Force, on the other hand, seeks to get back on the winning track when it takes on Maverick on April 12, Friday, at the Ynares Sports Arena.
