The HD Spikers are 2-0 in the PNVF chapter of the Dawn Macandili era
When Dawn Macandili-Catindig decided to be a part of Cignal, the desire behind her decision centered around personal growth.
So, it should not come as a surprise that the veteran libero is more than willing to shoulder a leadership role for the HD Spikers.
"Being a defensive player hindi ako nakakapuntos, pero I want to fill in that role na maging leader sa loob," bared the spitfire Catindig, a former F2 Logistics stalwart.
"Kung ang captain nagle-lead sa buong team, ako tina-try ko mag lead sa likod ng court."
With Catindig handing out defensive cues and stabilizing the back row, the HD Spikers have started to become more confident in executing their offensive schemes.
This is evident during Cignal's first two matches in the PNVF Champions League, where it dispatched Chery Tiggo in straight sets and outgunned the Brooke Van Sickle-led Petro Gazz Angels.
Of course, Cignal head coach Shaq Delos Santos could not help but gush about having player of Dawn’s caliber at his disposal.
"Alam mong safe kapag nandoon si Dawn," the decorated tactician said.
"Siyempre, champion player, maturity and leadership nasa kanya lahat ‘yun kaya sobrang laking impact niya sa amin,” he added.
Incoming second-year star Vanie Gandler also chimed in a similar sentiment.
"It’s such a big impact that Dawn has in this team. I think one thing that people don’t know is how vocal of a leader she is, which is super helpful in our team," Gandler expressed.
Aside from the continuous growth she's bound to experience from hereon out, Catindig feels grateful to be a part of a team that accepts her with open arms.
"Sobrang saya ko sa team na nilipatan ko," she shared. "Hindi ako naninibago kaya talagang comfortable ako gumalaw sa loob court."
