Cody Rhodes never actually made a decision on his WrestleMania 40 opponent. Rock-Roman to take over?
Barely a week in, the road to WrestleMania 40 is already full of twists and turns.
Built up as Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes set to finalize his WrestleMania 40 opponent, the February 2 edition of SmackDown instead ended in a blockbuster staredown, but one that featured Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns and The Rock.
The Great One appeared the close the show he essentially coined and gave Rhodes an embrace, before coming face-to-face with Reigns, once again adding build up to the long-rumored showdown.
Lost in the electrifying buzz of The Rock’s return is Rhodes never actually making his decision, and instead teased he might not actually go after Reigns, at WrestleMania at least.
“Is finishing the story taking that championship from you, or is finishing the story taking everything from you?” Rhodes asked Roman.
“Let me make it abundantly clear, I want that title. I’m coming for you, Roman Reigns… but not at WrestleMania.”
