Third seed Alex Eala will be facing sixth seed Anca Alexia Todoni of Romania.
Alex Eala has secured her place in the ITF World Tennis Tour W50 Indore quarterfinals after an intense match against Ekaterina Yashina of Russia, 7-6(1), 6-7(4), 6-0 in India.
She went neck-and-neck with Yashina in the first two sets and eventually outlasted her opponent in the deciding set after two hours and 39 minutes of game time.
Eala recently picked up her first doubles victory as a professional at the W50 Pune competition with partner Darja Semenistaja of Latvia.
This led to Eala’s new career-high WTA doubles ranking of 302. She also jumped three places to No. 184 in singles after falling to Semenistaja in the W50 Pune quarterfinals. singles ranking in the WTA at No. 184.
Ironically, Semenistaja was hailed as the top seed of the W50 Indore tournament, but was defeated by Japan’s Saki Imamura in the second round, 6-3, 6-4.
Third seed Eala will be facing No. 6 seed Anca Alexia Todoni of Romania in the quarterfinals.
