Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra on Wednesday announced his divorce from his wife, Nikki Spoelstra, according to various reports.
No reason behind the divorce was disclosed, but the Spoelstras said that it was an amicable one and they are both committed to looking after their three children.
"We have made the difficult yet amicable decision to jointly file to formally end our marriage. We are both grateful for our relationship and remain fully committed to co-parenting our children and continuing to make them our shared priority," said the Spoelstras in a joint statement, as reported by the Sun Sentinel.
They were married for seven years.
The Sun Sentinel also stated that the two-time NBA champion coach and the former Heat dancer had already separated for months before finalizing their divorce.
"We appreciate everyone’s support as we move to the next stage of our lives and thank you for respecting our family’s privacy,” added the joint statement.
Erik, 53, is in his 16th year with the Heat, who have a 10-8 record, as of writing.

Nikki, 36, hosts her podcast, The Know with Nikki Spo.
Curiously, her latest episode is about self-love. She posted a teaser of it on her Instagram on Wednesday, writing in the caption: "Advice for life: DON’T LET ANYONE MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU’RE HARD TO LOVE."
"It’s a must-listen for anyone on a healing journey," added the post.
