Alex Eala proved herself as one of the continent's best tennis players after putting up a fight en route to two bronze medal finishes in her debut in the Asian Games.

The 18-year-old tennis sensation's first bronze came in the women's singles after a gallant stand against top seed Zheng Qinwen in the semifinals. The other podium finish came via a mixed doubles bronze with Francis Alcantara.

The Rafa Nadal Academy gave Eala her flowers for a historic debut in the continental tournament.

"Alex Eala wins the Philippines' first women's singles tennis medal in 61 years! VAMOS! Her bronze win at the #AsianGames🥉also marks the nation's first tennis podium since 2006 in Doha. 🎾 MABUHAY!"

Eala graduated from the prestigious school of legend Rafael Nadal last June. She is set to continue building upon her young professional career after a relatively successful stint in the Asian Games. Eala is currently ranked 190 in the world, her highest to date.
