It would be foolish to forget about The King!
LeBron James is an ageless basketball specimen. In terms of production, he’s been as good as ever. Last season, he even broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s longstanding record to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. Turning 39 this December, the grind continues for King James.
On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar took to social media to give an update on his current preps for the upcoming NBA season, which will be his 21st year in the league.
“👽 status! Gearing up for Prime Time year #21!! LFG 🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣 #StriveforGreatness🚀 #KingMe👑,” the four-time NBA champion posted along with pictures of him sweating it out in a Lakers practice.
LeBron went with the shirtless look during the workout session, to perhaps show off his super-fit bod. The alien emoji he used for his caption was accurate because his physical gifts are simply otherworldly. Joining him on the court was Lakers teammate Austin Reaves, who was recently in Manila with Team USA for the FIBA World Cup.
LeBron’s latest post has a distinct tone to it. It’s almost like a warning to the rest of the league that says, "LeGoat is still here and I ain’t going nowhere."
James is coming off a season, wherein he averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game. In year 21, surpassing or even matching those numbers will be a ridiculous accomplishment. But the King calls it his “Prime Time” year, so there’s reason to believe that it can be done.
The thing is, he might run into trouble as he goes for his fifth NBA title. Just a few hours after the four-time MVP’s major flex, news broke that Damian Lillard is headed to the Milwaukee Bucks to pair up with Giannis Antetokounmpo.
