How often do you get a DM from an NBA Hall of Famer?
Alyssa Valdez was seen chatting with NBA great Carmelo Anthony during the semifinal match between Team USA and Germany in the FIBA World Cup. For sure, the two legends got to know more about each other during the encounter. Well, it seems that their friendship has gone to a new level.
On Monday, the Phenom went on Instagram and made an appreciation post regarding her FIBA World Cup experience. Of course, one of its biggest highlights was being able to rub elbows with the highly popular FIBA ambassador.
“[I] can’t believe I was able to witness some of the most amazing basketball players in the world alongside superstars! And @carmeloanthony was so generous explaining some plays to us,” Valdez wrote.
Included in Alyssa’s post, was a screenshot of Anthony’s reply to one of her IG stories. What did he say, exactly? Well, Melo simply sent a salute emoji.
Nonetheless, getting crazy over such a simple message is justified. Anthony is a top 75 NBA player for crying out loud.
One of Valdez’s friends in Aldo Panlilio was stoked for his buddy.
“7th slide my guyyyyyyyy,” he commented while referring to Melo’s jersey number.
The Filipino volleyball superstar played it cool with her response.
“Basic,” she quipped.
All in all, Valdez truly had an amazing time immersing herself in Manila’s hosting of the global hoops summit. She has been active in supporting Gilas Pilipinas. She met hoop legends, including the great Sue Bird. And now, it appears that the Phenom and Melo are legit IG buddies.
