Five-time wushu Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Agatha Wong tried out a new sport on Thursday. And she's kinda impressive at it.

2023 SEA Games karate gold medalist Sakura Alforte had Wong try to split a wooden board with a single punch.

Wong's move had the karate team in ooohhs.

"New karate queen," Alforte posted on Instagram.

Wushu is Chinese martial art. Wong primarily competes in the taolu events, which focus on stances, routines, and forms with bare hands and weapons. The movements are ideally circular and fluid. Athletes wear colorful, loose-fitting uniforms.

Meanwhile, karate is a Japanese form of martial arts. Athletes such as Alforte also compete in kata, or form, but they are graded on sharp and linear movements. Athletes are also bare-handed and wear the traditional white gi with colored belts.

Several national combat athletes bonded in Tagaytay on Thursday.

The Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee presided over the inauguration and blessing of the Tagaytay Combat Sports Complex, which is aimed at the development of aspiring and seasoned athletes.
