Diaz adds another achievement to her already stacked resume.
Hidilyn Diaz is not just an Olympic and Southeast Asian Games gold medalist. She is now also a college graduate.
Diaz took to social media to share her huge achievement, which she said took about 16 years.
“Nakakaiyak din pala. Not an ordinary day. Inabot din ng 16 years, nag-shift ng courses, nag-transfer ng school, nag-LOA dahil ang hirap pagsabayin ang pagwe-weightlifting at pag-aaral,” Diaz’s wrote.
The Olympic gold medalist has been busy trying to qualify for the upcoming Paris Olympics in 2024, but many didn’t know that Diaz was also studying at the same time to earn her degree at the College of Saint Benilde.
It wasn’t easy for the 32-year-old weightlifter, but like what’s she done on so many occasions during in her weightlifting career, she pushed herself to achieve greatness.
“Hindi ko akalain na magagawa ko, after sleepless nights and tiring days from training while attending school at De La Salle-College of St. Benilde. Posible pala,” said Diaz.
Given her latest achievement, Diaz continues to prove why she is an inspiration to many Filipino athletes.
“Kung nakaya ko, kaya ng mga student-athletes, at mga bata at sa lahat na gusto makapagtapos. Age doesn’t matter. Mahirap pero super worth it.” Diaz added.
Indeed, it is worth it. And it is certainly well-deserved.
