The two-time MVP deserves his signature shoe, right?
The sneaker community isn’t really waiting for something big to drop these days. After all, the NBA is in the thick of playoff action with the Denver Nuggets grabbing the first seat in the Finals.
In the East, the Boston Celtics lived to fight another day and dodged a sweep at the hands of the eighth seed Miami Heat.
It doesn’t mean there are no kicks sneakerheads can feast their eyes on, though. Here are some of ‘em.
Nikola Jokic
This one’s nothing new. But the actual wedding ring laced into this Nike Air Zoom G.T. Jump has always made this Nikola Jokic’s PEs special.
Unfortunately, Jokic is the only NBA MVP since Kobe Bryant in 2008 who doesn't have a signature line. Heck, even newly-minted MVP Joel Embiid has one with Under Armour.
Now that the two-time MVP has steered the Nuggets to their first ever NBA Finals appearance after sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference finals, we call on Nike to give this man his well-deserved signature shoe.
Mo Tautuaa
Remember that time in 2008 when the late great Kobe jumped over an Aston Martin DB9? The Black Mamba was introducing the Nike Hyperdunks then.
Look:
The Kobe V Aston Martin Mo Tautuaa was wearing in practice was inspired by that spot that changed the shoe game in the 2010s. The pair features the grey and burgundy color of the aforementioned car.
We’re hoping Mo is not planning to jump over a streaking car, though.
Air Jordan High OG “Next Chapter”
Heroes don’t always wear capes. Some wear Js.
If you’re a Michael Jordan and Marvel fan, this one’s perfect for you. It’s essentially the AJ1 Chicago colorway and some more.
According to shoe store Titan, it’s the pair “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” lead Miles Morales was wearing in the movie, which will hit the theaters in June.
