6 best moments in Gilas' win vs Lebanon

6 best moments in Gilas
FIBA

It’s safe to say that fans who watched the game between Gilas Pilipinas and Lebanon live at the Philippine Arena got their money’s worth.

En route to the 107-96 victory over Lebanon at the sixth window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers, Gilas fired up the crowd with highlight plays left and right.

Here are some of the best moments during Friday’s game.

1. Justin Brownlee scores his first Gilas buckets

Fans definitely waited for Justin Brownlee to score his first points for Gilas. That didn’t take too long as JB hit back-to-back threes early in the first quarter.

2. June Mar Fajardo showing off his stretch five era

It’s not everyday you see June Mar Fajardo step into a triple. But when he did versus Lebanon, fans were abuzz about the Kraken’s three-point shot.

3. Japan B.League players pushed the pace for Gilas

The B.League boys were ready to show off their skills as they fueled a strong second quarter during the match.

Jordan Heading, Ray Parks, Kiefer Ravena, and Dwight Ramos were all bright spots for the team.

4. Ginebra connection very much alive in Gilas

Whether they’re playing for Barangay Ginebra or Gilas Pililpinas, Scottie Thompson and Justin Brownlee continue to be in-sync.

During their match versus Lebanon, Thompson and Brownlee connected for two sweet inbound plays that led to two slam dunks.

5. Jamie Malonzo gets up

Jamie Malonzo was another bright spot for Gilas. The Barangay Ginebra forward’s energy was definitely felt throughout the game—and none more so than his two emphatic dunks during the third quarter.

6. Mason Amos impresses in Gilas debut

The Ateneo Blue Eagles definitely have a star on their hands.

At just 18 years old, Mason Amos made his senior debut for the national team. The 6-foot-7 cager showed off his shooting touch and steady play, scoring 13 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting while also grabbing 2 rebounds.

We’re definitely hoping for more highlight plays when Gilas goes against Jordan on Monday, February 27.
