SBP president Al Panlilio is optimistic but awaiting official FIBA confirmation on Quentin Millora-Brown’s eligibility, which could bolster Gilas Pilipinas’ frontcourt for the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers.
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) is taking a cautious but optimistic stance on the possible inclusion of Quentin Millora-Brown as a local player for Gilas Pilipinas.
This comes after reports that the 6-foot-10 Filipino-American’s legal team has successfully appealed FIBA to be recognized as a local player for the Philippines instead of a naturalized one.
“There is no official word yet from FIBA. I would rather wait for that before I comment, but of course that will be a welcome development,” SBP President Al Panlilio said to News5. “He will be a big help. You saw naman how big the other teams are, 'di ba.”
The reported development could give Gilas a significant frontcourt boost ahead of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers starting this November.
The Philippines is in Group C alongside Guam, New Zealand, and Australia.

During Gilas’ friendly games against the Macau Black Bears on July 28, the 24-year-old big man standout expressed confidence in the case.
“I feel really confident. But again, I can’t speak too much about it. I’m not a lawyer—I don’t know all the details of the case. But they tell me we’re in a strong position, and I trust them,” Millora-Brown said.

QMB played one season with the University of the Philippines during UAAP Season 87, where he helped the Fighting Maroons capture the championship over the DLSU Green Archers.
In the Finals, he averaged 14 points, nine rebounds, and 2.3 assists in the three-game series.
If cleared, his size and versatility could address Gilas’ need for more interior presence alongside Kai Sotto, AJ Edu, June Mar Fajardo, and Japeth Aguilar.
