The Philippines gets ready for the 2025 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup with a short stint in the William Jones Cup in Taiwan.
Gilas Pilipinas Women stalwart Jack Animam will join forces with Notre Dame point guard Vanessa de Jesus, as they lead the cavalry of the national team at the William Jones Cup slated in Taiwan this week.
As preparation for their impending campaign at the 2025 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup later this month, the Gilas Women will test their mettle against five other squads comprised of national teams and collegiate teams.
Joining Animam and de Jesus in a roster loaded with offensive firepower are mainstays Khate Castillo, Ella Fajardo, Trina Guytingco, Louna Ozar, and Monique del Carmen.
Youth standouts Naomi Panganiban, Sumayah Sugapong, and Margarette Dueñas also join forces with the senior team.
FEU’s Yvette Villanueva made the roster among the new faces in the team.
The Philippines will begin their campaign on Wednesday, July 2, against the Taiwan national team before facing another NT in Thailand on July 3.
Gilas will then play their third game in just as many days against South Korea on July 4 before wrapping up their last two games against college teams on July 6 and 7, facing a Japanese and Taiwanese squad, respectively.
Games will be held at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium.
