On early Tuesday, reports revealed the Utah Jazz guard has committed to play for the national team in the FIBA World Cup.
It is very likely that Jordan Clarkson will be suiting up for Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA World Cup next month.
This after the Utah Jazz gunner posted a photo of his daughter, Callie, draped in a Philippine flag-inspired jacket with the name of the country emblazoned on the front.
“Always ready to cheer for Daddy! Let’s get it 2023 FIBA World Cup!,” he said in the post on his official Facebook page.
Reports on early Tuesday revealed the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year has committed to play for the national team.
An unimpeachable source from the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas confirmed this development to News5.
Clarkson, though, has yet to show up in training with the national team set to join a pocket tournament in China from August 2 to 7.
It’s also not clear yet when the 6-foot-5 spitfire guard will be with the team, which has had a series of tune-up games in Europe as part of its preparations for the world's biggest hoops conclave.
If these latest developments are any indication, it appears Clarkson will play as naturalized player for the Philippines. It is a spot beloved PBA import Justin Brownlee and Ange Kouame are also trying to fill.
The FIBA World Cup kicks off on August 25, with performances from Sarah Geronimo and Ben&Ben ushering in the Philippines' match against Dominican Republic.
