No, Jared Dillinger is not retiring from basketball.

But yes, the Ginebra veteran is diving deep into esports.

On his Twitter account, Dillinger announced he is joining an esports competition, and then tagging the official Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Twitter page.

“Making a run for another chip, I’m going to shock the world,” said Dillinger, a nine-time PBA champion who is part of the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings squad that recently won the Commissioner’s Cup title.

In a message to OneSports.ph, Dillinger said he cannot announce just yet the specific tournament he is joining next month, but he also said they will disclose more details through a press conference on January 24.

According to game developer Moonton’s roadmap for 2023, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) is slated for February, as well as other MPL leagues in other countries like Singapore, Indonesia, and Brazil.

Dillinger, who entered the PBA in 2008, has been wearing different hats at this stage of his career. He has been into cryptocurrency and non-fungible tokens (NFT).

In September 2022, he also signed with Tier One Entertainment, one of Asia’s leaders in the esports and gaming scene.

Dillinger is part of the Tier One roster that includes Blacklist International, MPL PH Season 10 champions, and popular YouTuber Cong TV.
