The Super Family occupies the top spot, while Aurora Gaming makes it three wins in a row to cap off an MPL Philippines Season 16 doubleheader.
ONIC Philippines surged to the top of the MPL Philippines Season 16 standings after sweeping Team Falcons PH in their regular-season match Friday, September 5.
The reigning M6 world champions bounced back from a loss to Aurora Gaming, improving to 3-1.
It took ONIC just 16 minutes to dismantle Falcons in Game 1, with jungler King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez putting on a show with his signature Fanny behind nine kills and four assists.
With momentum on their side, K1NGKONG did not waste time to finish off their foes, posting a 5-1-7 line on Hayabusa to set the tone, foil a late Falcons surge, and ultimately seal the sweep.
Next up for ONIC is Smart Omega (2-2), while the Falcons (1-4) face AP.Bren (1-2) on Saturday.
But the Super Family wasn’t the only headline of the night.
Aurora Gaming extended its win streak to three after outlasting Twisted Minds in a tense 2-1 showdown.
After splitting the first two games, Aurora leaned on EXP laner Edward Jay “Edward” Dapadap’s brilliance with Lapu-Lapu to close out Game 3 in 13 minutes.
Edward tallied five kills and six assists as the Northern Lights silenced Twisted Minds, holding them to two kills while limiting dominating the jungle battle.
“Na-execute ng players 'yung pina-practice namin at nagawa namin 'yung hinanda namin sa Twisted Minds. Kaya tingin ko nagkaroon kami ng advantage. Credits pa rin sa players kasi maganda talaga yung naging execution nila,” Aurora Gaming head coach Aniel “Master the Basics” Jiandani said.
Aurora (3-1) tangles with TNC Pro Team (1-2) next, while Twisted Minds (3-2) will meet ONIC Philippines (3-1).
