Team Nemesis is the first Dota 2 team to be eliminated from playoff contention in The International 14.
BOOM Esports bid for the grand stage of The International 2025 is still alive after making quick work of fellow Filipino squad Team Nemesis in the group stage in Hamburg, Germany on Friday (Saturday, Philippine time).
This is BOOM Esports' first win in the group stage, having been swept by South American team Heroic and Russian team BetBoom in the previous matches. The Southeast Asian team also lost to two-time TI champions Team Liquid in their opening match.
Anucha "Jabz" Jirawong led with an Axe pick in a low scoring first game that lasted a little less than 30 mins.
The second game saw much more action, but Team Nemesis was not able to withstand BOOM Esports' team fight, with Januel Arcilla's support Mirana pick providing good map rotation to disrupt the laning phase of Team Nemesis.
Fifteen out of the 16 teams in The International 2025 group stage remain in playoff contention, where the top three teams will automatically advance to the playoffs while teams placing from 4th to 13th will head into a special elimination round.
BOOM Esports now place at 15th place after beating Team Nemesis and must win their next game to keep their playoff hopes alive.
