Team Liquid PH got thrown into the fire early.

The reigning MPL PH Season 15 champions were drawn into what could be called the "Group of Death" as the 2025 Esports World Cup group stage draw was revealed.

In Group A, the Filipino squad will face reigning tournament champions Selangor Red Giants from Malaysia, ONIC ID from Indonesia, and wildcard surprise Virtus.pro, among others.

Team Liquid PH will open their campaign against Ultra Legends, with their bracket also featuring CFU Gaming, Mythic Seal, and Sport Club Corinthians Paulista.

Last year, TLPH exited the MLBB Mid-Season Cup in the semifinals, suffering a loss to compatriots Falcons AP.Bren.

Meanwhile, ONIC PH, who finished as runners-up to TLPH, are hungry for redemption.

They are joined in Group B by fan favorites RRQ Hoshi from Indonesia, as well as powerhouse teams like HomeBois from Malaysia, Team Flash from Singapore, Team Spirit from Serbia, DianFengYaoGuai from China, and Area 77 from the USA.

Aurora Türkiye will serve as ONIC PH’s first opponent as the rulers of last year’s M6 World Championships will be making their tournament debut.

While Team Liquid and ONIC Philippines have their work cut out for them, they’re not the only Filipino teams in action.

In the MLBB Women’s Invitational, both Team Liquid PH and NAVI PH will represent the Philippines on the global stage.

Team Liquid PH kicks off their campaign against China’s Tidal Legends Gaming, while NAVI PH will face Cambodia’s CFU Gaming in their opening match.
