It’s a sweep week

Season 13 of MPL-Philippines has arrived at its halfway point, and each team are starting to get really into it especially with playoff spots on the line.

To get into the thick of things, let’s take a look back at Week 4 of the MPL Philippines.

Day 1: Omega’s first win, RSG sweep

Smart Omega ended their four-week skid and gave Jayson “UKIR” Alupit a solid debut on the MPL stage after a quick sweep of the TNC Pro Team on Friday at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City.

UKIR displayed grace under pressure on Faramis gameplay with a 2-0-10 KDA.

In game 2, John “H2wo” Salonga proved his mettle in the Land of Dawn as his gameplay on Roger pounced on the TNC with a 6-0-6 KDA and 92% kill participation.

Meanwhile, RSG Philippines clinched their third-straight win at the expense of Blacklist International via sweep.

In game 1, RSG surprised Blacklist International with a debut Odette pick for the season. Arvie “Aqua” Calderon’s Odette and Dylan "Light" Catipon’s Mathilda worked like well-oiled machinery during the skirmishes and team fight initiations.

Odette’s debut favored the Raiders, as Aqua delivered an excellent 7-2-6 KDA.

RSG continued their momentum in the second game with Nathanael “Nathzz” Estrologo’s four-man petrify play with Benedetta in the 13-minute mark.

The stellar gameplay of Nathzz on Benedetta opened a window of opportunity for RSG to finish off Blacklist International, with Kenneth "Yue" Tadeo as the last man standing left to defend.

Nathzz’s cutthroat gameplay earned him the MVP badge with a 5-3-3 KDA.

Day 2: AP.Bren take first loss, Minana and RSG back-to-back sweep

ONIC Philippines continued their rampage this week after winning six consecutive matches, including a decisive sweep of the defending champions AP.Bren.

In game 1, ONIC drafted a crowd-control-heavy lineup with Fredrinn, Franco, Vexana, and Terizla against AP.Bren.

The Sonics were perfectly capable of putting the Hive in the penalty zone, like pinning down Michael "KyleTzy" Sayson’s slippery Joy during turtle contention in the 7th minute.

Despite KyleTzy’s effort to hold off the level 2 lord in the middle lane, ONIC pressured AP.Bren’s base and delivered the final blow.

Jomearie "Escalera" Santos was hailed as the MVP of the game after showcasing sharp precision on Franco with a 2-1-7 KDA.

In game 2, AP.Bren showcased their prowess, but the odds favored ONIC as Frince "Super Frince" Ramirez secured the second lord.

The epic lord steal of Super Frince sealed the deal for ONIC and led to their victory against AP.Bren.

Credits went to Duane “Kelra” Pilas after he displayed splendid marksmanship on Karrie with a 6-2-1 KDA.

On the other hand, Minana Esports proved that they can go toe-to-toe with top teams, sending ECHO to their second loss of the season.

In the opener, the early game was not in favor of Minana, but Jan “Domeng” Delmundo’s Natan elimination on Alston “Sanji” Pabico’s Novaria turned the tides for the White Tigers.

"Domeng" flaunted a masterclass on Natan with a 7-2-3 KDA and perfect 100% kill participation.

Minana was on the roll and headed to game 2 with confidence.

The clutch heal of Brain "SpiderMilez" Santos with Floryn translated into the extension of the team fight of the White Tigers against the Orcas.

This also resulted in Minana taking the lord objective uncontested.

Ken "Kzen" Pile gained the MVP citation on Fredrinn with a 2-1-3 KDA.

In the other match, RSG came off hot against Smart Omega to grab their fourth-straight victory, improving their regular-season slate to 5-3.

In game 1, the Raiders’ offense and defense mechanisms, along with securing game objectives, were exceptionally executed.

Light’s Edith led the Raiders to victory with a 3-2-15 KDA and 82% kill participation.

RSG was flawless in the second-game face-off against Omega, with zero recorded deaths.

Day 3: MInana, AP.Bren, and ONIC roll to wins

Minana took its third straight win and once again made a statement in proficiency with a sweep against the TNC Pro Team.

The White Tigers now sit in the fifth spot in the standings with a 4-4 record, trailing both ECHO and RSG at 5-3.

In the first game, Minana extinguished TNC's initial aggressive play by stealing the first lord at the 14-minute mark, thanks to Kzen’s precision on the retribution spell.

After the lord contention, Domeng led the rundown with a triple kill against the Phoenix Army in a narrow jungle area, resulting in a 5-man wipeout.

Domeng’s mastery on Natan earned him an MVP citation with a 5-1-5 KDA.

Minana finished off TNC in the 15th minute of the second game.

Kzen displayed full brilliance on Martis after scoring a 6-1-5 KDA and 715 GPM.

Meanwhile, AP.Bren recovered from their first loss against ONIC, outplaying Blacklist International in a sweep.

In game 1, AP.Bren orchestrated a perfect victory, not conceding any deaths.

Marco “Super Marco” Requitiano proved himself as a force to be reckoned with in the gold lane after a maniac killing streak, as they knocked down the base of the Codebreakers.

Super Marco went for the kill, obtaining back-to-back MVP titles on Roger with a 4-0-2 KDA and Brody with a 2-0-2 KDA.

To wrap things up, ONIC maintained their position atop the standings with a 7-1 win-loss record after getting sweet revenge against ECHO.

ONIC and AP.bren share the same record, but the Sonics take the lead by virtue of losing less games.

In the first game, the moment of truth arrived during the 22-minute period when Super Frince teleported Kelra to ECHO’s middle-lane inhibitor turret, which created diversion among the Orcas.

With only one man left on ECHO’s side, the Sonics sieged through the defenses for the win.

The jitter-less ONIC snowballed to the second game. ONIC finished the job after taking down four ECHO members and sending them to their third loss of the season.

MPL-Philippines will resume with Week 5 on April 19.
