The PNVF is set to take grassroots volleyball development to the regions through the nationwide Alas Pilipinas Youth Camp led by Alyssa Valdez and Roger Gorayeb.
The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) is rolling out a nationwide grassroots initiative aimed at bringing high-level volleyball instruction directly to young athletes through the newly launched Alas Pilipinas Youth Camp.
The program will be led by veteran coach Roger Gorayeb and volleyball icon Alyssa Valdez, with camps set to be staged across different provinces and regions in the country.
PNVF president Tonyboy Liao said the concept was designed to take volleyball development beyond Metro Manila and closer to communities that rarely get access to elite-level training.
"I suggested to the board members from the different regions, why don’t we have camps in the regions?" Liao said. "They agreed it was a good idea."
According to Liao, coordination with local government units will be a key part of the rollout, with regional officials helping provide logistical and on-ground support.
"They will be in charge of talking with the mayors of those areas so we can get help and support locally," he added.
Valdez will serve as the centerpiece of the youth camps, sharing her experience and on-court knowledge with aspiring players.
The initiative builds on her long-running summer camps, which have traditionally been held in select Metro Manila cities.
Liao said discussions with Valdez led to the decision to merge efforts and expand the reach of her existing program.
"She told me her summer camps were only in Metro Manila," Liao said. "So I asked if it was okay to bring it to the regions. She suggested we partner, so we’ll call it PNVF in partnership with Aly Youth Camp."
Each camp leg is expected to accommodate around 100 to 150 participants, though organizers noted that Valdez's previous camps in Metro Manila have drawn crowds of more than a thousand per city.
Specific dates and host locations are expected to be announced soon, with the PNVF aiming to roll out the Alas Pilipinas Youth Camp in time for the summer, as part of its broader push to strengthen the national volleyball pipeline.
