Alas Pilipinas Women are two wins away from the SEA Games gold medal, but taking the first victory is already a huge undertaking.

The Philippines will meet Vietnam in the women’s volleyball semifinals of SEA Games 2025 on Sunday, presenting a huge opportunity for Alas Women to end a 20-year medal drought.

Alas Women booked their spot in the semis after a huge bounce-back effort against Singapore, which came on the heels of a tough SEA Games opener against Thailand.

Alyssa Solomon and Shaina Nitura fueled the offense against Singrapore, going for 10 points each, while Angel Canino added nine points.

On the other side, Vietnam enters the next round as the top team from Group B with three victories over Myanmar, Malaysia, and Indonesia all via sweep.

Vietnam and Alas Women share a significant amount of history this year, most notably the showdown in the Finals of the AVC Nations Cup where the Philippines got a breakthrough silver medal but at the expense of a 3-0 loss.

First serve for Alas Pilipinas Women vs. Vietnam in the SEA Games 2025 semifinals is 1:30 p.m. (PH time). The match is available on the One Sports YouTube channel and Pilipinas Live.
