Alas Pilipinas turned pain into power.

Facing elimination, Alas Pilipinas Women delivered a commanding sweep of Kazakhstan, 25-21, 25-15, 25-19, to top Pool B and book a semifinal spot in the 2025 AVC Nations Cup in Vietnam.

Angel Canino, last year’s Best Opposite Spiker, once again proved her value as she tallied 13 points — all in the first two sets — to help the team take control early and never look back.

“Known din ng Kazakhstan sa malakas na players,” said Canino, who has scored in double figures in all her appearances in this year’s AVC Nations Cup.

“We’re thankful and proud sa bawa’t isa kasi binigay namin ang best namin. Kung ano man ang nangyari sa previous games namin, naging lesson siya sa amin na nadala namin ngayon,” she added.

The victory was especially meaningful for Alas Pilipinas, who were swept by Kazakhstan in last year’s semifinals.

This time, they flipped the script — and stayed alive in their bid to improve on their historic bronze medal finish.

With momentum and lessons learned, Alas marches into the knockout rounds, battle-tested and believing.
