Following comments from some of SB19’s fans, known as A’Tin, directed towards Sisi Rondina, the Philippine volleyball community came together to defend the Alas Pilipinas’ star on X (formerly Twitter), using the hashtag #SB19FansApologizeToSisi.
Just as some of the A’Tin were displeased by Sisi Rondina’s remarks during the ‘Pistang Pinoy sa Korea’ Philippine Independence Day event, Philippine volleyball fans took to social media to stand by the Alas Pilipinas ace, displeased by the backlash being hurled towards the star spiker.
Some of the arguments include that Sisi should not be blamed for being unaware of who the P-pop group was, considering the number of hours she spends on training. They also mentioned Rondina's long list of sports accomplishments, which are substantial in the volleyball scene.
The 2024 AVC Challenge Cup bronze finisher already issued her apology to the offended SB19 supporters on a previous Instagram Live.
"Personally, hindi ko talaga sila [SB19] kilala. And then tinanong ako, sinong pinaka-inaantay ko. Tapos sabi nila [audience], SB19. SB? Ay ‘di ko kilala ‘yon. Starbucks lang [ang] alam ko. So ayun, daming na-offend siguro. Sorry talaga. I’m really sorry,” she said.
An SB19 fan, likewise, shared on X that the Alas Pilipinas’ main gunner has also sent her a message of sorry in their private conversation on Instagram.
“Ate, na-offend ako sa sinabi mo. Sana ‘di mo na lang sinabi na Starbucks lang [ang] kilala mo. Respeto sana sa mga A’Tin. Hindi sa lahat ng panahon ay magj-joke nang gan’yan,” messaged by the supporter on Rondina’s direct message.
“Ay sorry po if na-offend ko po kayo. Pasensya na po. Noted lahat [ng] sinabi niyo po. Sorry po,” humbly replied Sisi.
SB19 members Stell and Pablo have already released statements following the issue, condemning the unwanted behavior from some of their fans.
