Demetrious Johnson teases boxing match with Manny Pacquiao: “I want to box a legend of the sport”
Demetrious Johnson vs. Manny Pacquiao is a dream match no matter how you look at it.

But now, Johnson is up for another challenge – a boxing match against one of the legends of the sport.

“I’m going to break some news right now. I came home last night, broke down some content, and was watching Canelo Alvarez. Watching him box, I was like, ‘Oh my god, that looks so damn dope.’ [I] went to the gym, did jiu-jitsu, then came home and [thought I wanted to box],” Johnson said on his YouTube channel “Mighty.”

Making Johnson’s boxing itch all the more interesting is his choice of opponent. He believes the only way he’ll try the sport is if he fights eight-division boxing world champion Manny Pacquiao.

Only few people in boxing get the respect and love that Pacquiao does. After all, he started from the bottom and put the world on notice with his skills and perseverance.

Like Pacquiao, Johnson is also universally loved and respected in the world of MMA. He doesn’t have a bad bone in his body but is one of the baddest MMA fighters to ever live.

“When my body is ready for a hard training camp, I’d love to box,” Johnson said.

“And it would have to be the right opponent. If it was Manny Pacquiao, f— it, I’m doing it. I don’t want to box another MMA guy. I wouldn’t mind, but I want to box a legend of the sport.”

A battle between two of the most likeable and most exciting fighters to ever compete in combat sports? Even ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong is hyped for it.

“I am down for it,” Sityodtong said. “Two goats.”
